Pretty much all of my life I have had issues with reactions to skincare products. I always thought that was my thing and maybe one day it would go away.
Throughout the years, I tried many different products that claimed to be organic or safe, with just one disappointment after another. Everything I tried just made my skin worse or caused an allergic reaction.

Four years ago, a good friend was starting up her small business selling skincare and she suggested that I give Beautycounter a try. I wanted to support her new home business, so I purchased a few products, knowing in my heart I would probably never purchase another one because I was sure I would have another reaction.
To my surprise, not only did the products work, but my skin improved. I would wash my face and not need an antihistamine nearby just in case of a reaction.
That’s when I decided it was time to start learning about the ingredients that were in my skincare products and makeup. My friend suggested that I visit the website www.ewg.org/skindeep to research the ingredients in the products I was using.
I had NO idea how many toxic ingredients were allowed in our skincare products. In the US, there are only a few chemicals that have been banned for safety reasons. I was shocked to know that Formaldehyde wasn’t one of these ingredients that are banned. Sadly, companies don’t have to fully disclose the ingredients that are in makeup products.
That’s when I decided I needed to make a swap of all my beauty products. Slowly I switched out everything in my makeup bag.
Fast forward three years later, I decided I wanted to become a Beauytcounter Consultant, alongside my good friend. I wanted to help people become educated about what was in their makeup and to choose better beauty for themselves and their families.
